"I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, 'A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and donot harm the oil and the wine'"(Revelation 6:5-6)

The immediate results of war include decimation of food stores, destroyed livestock, contaminated water supply, and a rationing of existing supplies, while the majority of supplies are diverted to support a standing army. Faced with the reality of war with their neighbors, rival countries have allowed mass starvation to go unchecked. Upset weather conditions, drought, pestilence, and overpopulation have compounded the problem in those areas. Jesus warned that the world trend of famine would worsen as we approach the time of Christ’s return.
